Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
1. What is an eSIM?
An eSIM (embedded SIM) is a digital version of a traditional SIM card. Instead of physically inserting a SIM card into your phone, an eSIM is downloaded and activated digitally, allowing you to connect to a network without needing a physical card. It’s perfect for travelers who need flexible data plans without swapping out SIM cards.
2. How does an eSIM work?
An eSIM works by being programmed directly onto your phone or device, allowing you to activate a data plan instantly without waiting for shipping or physically inserting a SIM card. All you need to do is scan a QR code provided after purchase, and the eSIM is installed and ready to use.
3. Which devices are compatible with eSIMs?
eSIMs are compatible with a growing number of devices. Some popular models include:
- iPhone XR and later models (including iPhone SE 2020 and iPhone SE 2022)
- Google Pixel 3 and later
- Samsung Galaxy S20 and later
- Certain Huawei and Motorola devices
- Some iPads and tablets (e.g., iPad Pro)
4. How do I activate my eSIM after purchasing?
Activating your eSIM is easy:
- Purchase a data plan on our website.
- You will receive an email with a QR code and instructions.
- On your phone, go to Settings > Cellular > Add Cellular Plan.
- Scan the QR code and follow the on-screen instructions.
If you encounter any issues, our support team is here to help.
5. Can I use an eSIM alongside my physical SIM card?
Yes, many eSIM-compatible devices support dual SIM functionality. This means you can use your physical SIM card for calls and texts while using the eSIM for data. It’s a great option for travelers who want to keep their home phone number active while using a local or international data plan.
6. What regions do your data plans cover?
eSIM Depot offers global data plans, including coverage for the Americas, Europe, Asia, and other regions. Each data plan specifies its coverage area. Be sure to check the product description to ensure your desired destination is included in the coverage area.
7. How long is my eSIM data plan valid?
The validity of each eSIM data plan varies. Most of our plans last from 7 to 30 days, depending on the package. The duration starts from the moment the eSIM is activated, not from the purchase date. Plan details, including validity and data limits, are listed on the product page.
8. What happens if I run out of data?
If you run out of data, you can easily purchase a new eSIM data plan from our website. Unfortunately, topping up an existing eSIM plan is not currently possible, so you would need to install a new eSIM for additional data.
9. Can I use your eSIM for calls and texts?
No, our eSIM plans are for data only. You will still be able to use apps like WhatsApp, Skype, or other internet-based calling services, but voice calls and text messages through traditional networks will not work with our eSIMs.
10. How do I check my data usage?
You can check your data usage directly on your device. Most smartphones have a “Cellular” or “Mobile Data” section in their settings where you can see how much data you’ve used on your eSIM. Additionally, some network providers offer usage tracking via their websites or apps, but this depends on the carrier associated with the eSIM.
11. Can I get a refund if my eSIM doesn’t work?
Yes, we offer refunds for eSIMs that cannot be activated or have technical issues. If you experience any problems, please contact our customer support team within 7 days of your purchase, and we will investigate the issue. Refunds are issued at our discretion based on the circumstances of the technical issue.
12. How secure is my eSIM?
eSIMs are considered very secure, as they are encrypted and cannot be easily tampered with. Since no physical SIM card is involved, the risk of losing or damaging a SIM card is also eliminated. Your data and identity are protected, just as they are with traditional SIM cards.
13. How do I delete or switch eSIM profiles?
If you no longer need an eSIM or want to switch to a different profile, you can delete the eSIM in your device settings:
- Go to Settings > Cellular > Select your eSIM.
- Choose Remove Cellular Plan.
- Follow the prompts to delete the eSIM profile from your device.
You can then install and activate a new eSIM if needed.
14. What payment methods do you accept?
