Using Your eSIM as a Hot Spot While Travelling

Share your data with a laptop or a travel partner.

Hot spot is included

Every plan we sell allows tethering, so you can share your connection with a laptop, tablet or a travel companion's phone. There is no separate hot spot fee.

Switch it on

  • iPhone: Settings, then Personal Hot spot, then allow others to join.
  • Android: Settings, then Network and internet, then Hot spot and tethering.

Pick the eSIM line as your data source on the same settings screen, otherwise the hot spot tries to use your usual SIM.

Watch your data

Tethering uses data faster than phone browsing. A video call on a laptop can take 1GB in an hour. If you plan to work from the road, choose a larger fixed data bundle or a fast day pass tier.

Keep it secure

Set a password before you travel. Open networks are an easy target in busy airports and cafes. Keep the hot spot off when you are not using it, since a connected laptop keeps pulling data in the background.

Battery tip

Sharing a connection uses more power. A small power bank will keep you going through long travel days.
