What you need before you start
- A phone that supports eSIM and is carrier unlocked
- A stable Wi-Fi connection
- Your order email with the eSIM QR code
1. Buy and check your plan
Pick your destination and data plan, then complete checkout. Your QR code arrives by email within a couple of minutes. Save that email, or download the QR image, so you can open it again later.
2. Scan the QR code
Open Settings on your phone and look for "Add eSIM", "Add Cellular Plan" or "Mobile Data". Choose the option to use a QR code and scan the one in your email. If you are reading the email on the same phone, open the code on another screen or print it.
3. Install at home, before you travel
Install over Wi-Fi at home, then leave the new eSIM switched off. Your plan only starts counting once it connects to a network abroad, so installing early costs you nothing.
4. Switch it on when you land
Turn off mobile data on your usual SIM, switch the eSIM on, and enable data roaming for the eSIM line. Within a minute or two the local network name appears and you are online.
Good to know
Keep your normal SIM active for calls and texts to your own number. If the eSIM does not connect straight away, restart the phone and check that the eSIM is set as the line for mobile data.
