Check if Your Phone Supports eSIM in 60 Seconds

Two settings screens tell you everything.

The quick check

Open the dialer on your phone and type *#06#. If the screen lists an EID number, your phone has eSIM hardware. No EID means the phone works with a physical SIM only.

Check it in settings

  • iPhone: Settings, then General, then About. Scroll down for "EID". You can also look for "Add eSIM" under Cellular.
  • Android: Settings, then Network and internet, then SIMs. Look for "Download a SIM instead" or "Add eSIM".

Make sure it is unlocked

Many phones sold directly by a carrier are locked to that network. Ask your carrier to unlock the device, or check their app for an unlock option. An eSIM cannot be installed on a locked phone.

Known eSIM limits

Some models sold in mainland China, Hong Kong and Macao ship without eSIM. A handful of older phones with two physical SIM slots cannot use eSIM at all. When in doubt, check your exact model on the manufacturer's site.

Still unsure

Send us your phone model through the support page and we will confirm before you buy.
